Sabrina Atwal from the Indo-Canadian Women’s Association (ICWA) will discuss culturally motivated violence against women and how certain cultural beliefs give the perception that violence against women in some immigrant communities is "culturally sanctioned". The ICWA will share data that they’ve collected on this topic over the past eight months to help front line workers understand the cultural issues behind this hidden topic of gender-based violence in immigrant communities.
