Some Edmonton renters are wondering why the province isn't doing more to protect them.
That according to Susan Morrissey of Edmonton's Social Planning Council.
She says more than a few people asked that question at a free forum yesterday surrounding rental housing issues. "We certainly had some people ask questions about why does the province not implement any kind of rental guidelines or rent controls, because we have some individuals who are facing increases and their only option now is to move out of a place and start all over."
She says to afford a typical two-bedroom in Edmonton, you'd have to make around $40,000 to $45,000 a year, and obviously not everyone can fall into that income bracket.
