The ESPC seeks to inform and engage the community through:
- Coordination & Collaboration
The ESPC works in partnership with other community members and organizations to meet community needs and participates in coalitions of shared interest to address social issues.
- Research & Policy Analysis
The ESPC provides community based research and analysis on social issues that impact the Edmonton area for the human services sector and the citizens of Edmonton. Our research typically focuses on low-income issues, including:
- poverty
- homelessness
- affordable housing
- wages, incomes and wealth
- employment and labour market
- government income supports
- social determinants of health
- Public Education & Engagement
The ESPC provides topical and relevant information on social issues to the human services sector, policy makers, the media, the general public and our membership.

In addition, our online discussion forum offers an opportunity to engage in social issues through discussions with community members and organizations.
- Advocacy
The ESPC identifies the needs of Edmontonians affected by social issues and then proposes changes to social policy and services that will improve outcomes for all citizens.
